The chart is an interactive lineage map. Retrofuturism sits at the center, on a timeline that runs from older movements at the top to newer ones at the bottom. Characterized by a blend of old-fashioned "retro styles" with futuristic technology, retrofuturism explores the themes of tension between past and future, and between the alienating and empowering effects of technology.
