How this directory works
Four rules decide what gets listed. They are also the rules for suggesting a store:
- It sells physical art to US buyers, or gives away open-access images free.
- It is live and shipping today.
- Its returns or sale terms can be found and read before paying.
- It is not a dropship front reselling someone else's catalog.
Meeting the rules makes a store eligible, not listed. No entry goes up until we check it.
Every entry is opened by a human, and the facts on its card (returns, fees, artist payout) come from the store's own policy and help pages, not from other people's listicles. The date on each card is the date of its last real check, and the full list is re-checked quarterly.
When a listed store dies, degrades or stops shipping, it comes off the list and the removal is recorded in the changelog with a date. We keep the graveyard on purpose: online art retail has a short half-life, and a directory that trusts its own last edit ends up recommending ghosts.
This directory is maintained by Meron, an art print store, which means we profit if you buy from us instead of anyone else on this page. The guardrails: Meron gets one card, same template, same rules, same required downside as everyone else. No highlight, no boosted placement. No store paid to be listed, nothing here is sponsored, and there are no affiliate links on this page; if that ever changes, the link itself will say so. If the best choice for you is a competitor or a free museum download, that is what this page should tell you.
Changelog
- : Society6 payout precision: the 5-10% artist share is calculated on the net sale amount after discounts, per Society6's own help text (corroborated by artist-community coverage of the 2025 changes).
- : Live human read of the last archive-sourced returns pages: Art.com's policy is now 15 days with a 72-hour damage-claim window (the 45-day figure from a January 2026 archive snapshot no longer holds), King & McGaw's 30-day policy confirmed live, Minted's tiered policy confirmed live. No fact in the directory remains archive-sourced.
- : Returns verified from the stores' own pages for iCanvas (60 days, buyer pays return shipping), MoMA Design Store (90 days minus a $9.95 label fee), the Met and SFMOMA custom print services (made to order, non-returnable), Society6 (30 days, stated on product pages) and Avant Arte (14 days, refund minus a variable handling fee; auctions and NFT-paired works final sale). Singulart artist economics confirmed from its own artist page: 50% commission plus a EUR 49-199 monthly subscription.
- : Human verification pass: Desenio returns recovered (90 days, tiered return fee), Tappan's unposted returns policy located in its FAQ (store credit only, 10 days, 20% restocking fee), live sample prices captured for Art.com, King & McGaw and Minted, Catawiki seller fee updated to 12.5% plus a tiered fixed fee, Etsy and the Met/NGA/Smithsonian open-access hubs confirmed working.
- : Initial directory: 37 stores across 8 categories, every entry opened and checked.
