The Pelican Piper
About the art
Perched stoically on a barnacle-encrusted wooden post amidst crashing coastal foam, a majestic pelican is ingeniously melded with traditional Scottish Highland bagpipes. Its throat pouch and tailored waistcoat display vibrant red and green tartan cloth, while its beak extends into a carved wooden chanter flanked by stately drone pipes. Set against a foggy loch and rolling highlands, this captivating surrealist piece honors folk heritage with unexpected wit.
